Attention: The color of the year is Tangerine Tango.
...so?

Each year Pantone announces the new color of the year. This year they have selected Tangerine Tango. "Sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive, Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it," said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®
Many of you may be asking yourself... who is Pantone and why do I care? Pantone is the world renowned authority on color. In 1963, Pantone's founder Lawrence Herbert, created an innovative system for identifying, matching and communicating colors to solve the problems associated with producing accurate color matches. His system is extremely helpful in any design industry in making sure everyone is talking about the same color when computer monitors can differ and even the human eye can see color differently from person to person. What may be red to someone is orange to another.
The first color of the year was selected in 2000 and each year Pantone has combed the world looking for color influences. Which can include anything from the entertainment industry and films that are in production, traveling art collections, hot new artists, popular travel destinations, etc. Influence may also stem from the availability of new technology that may impact color or even upcoming sports events that capture worldwide attention.
So how does the color of the year affect you? Look for new products to be introduced in the selected color. These can be both in the interior and fashion design world... but especially in fashion. If you like the current color this makes things easier for you. You'll find home decor and fashion accessories in Tangerine and variations of it. However if orange is not your thing, I promise I won't be trying to shove this new color down anyone's throat. Home decor should be completely personal and not about what's hip or trendy now. For one thing, it's way to expensive to change out your decor every year. Who knows, next year's color could completely clash with this year's color and then where would you be? My quick advice for this month is to pick out your own Color of the Year and try to find ways to introduce it into your home. A fun and colorful vase here, a new throw pillow there and you'll feel like you've given your home it's own innovative face-lift.
